About Our School
Greely Elementary is a Kindergarten to grade 6 school in the rural community of Greely, Ontario. Built in 1972, Greely Elementary School was redesigned and renovated in 2003 to create a bright and welcoming learning environment. Our small supportive community is proud of our warm and caring atmosphere.
Academic Programs
Greely Elementary offers French Immersion kindergarten year 1 and 2 program, followed by grade 1 to grade 6 English program. Families interested in French Immersion head to Castor Valley Elementary or Metcalfe Public School depending on location.
We have a Balanced Day timetable providing longer uninterrupted blocks for learning as well as regular nutrition and exercise breaks for the children. We believe in a differentiated and inclusive program to meet the needs of all our students.
Special Education Programs
Greely Elementary School has an OCDSB Specialized system ASD program. This program is not a direct entry program - our six students in this wonderful class join us from nearby schools via specialized transportation.
Activities
Even though it is a small school, staff members organize a range of extra-curricular activities such as sports activities, arts events and music clubs. Staff members also inspire students to be innovative and creative.
Our school offers:
- a large gym with a stage
- a three-acre lot with upgraded play equipment
- an enclosed kindergarten play area
- close proximity to Greely Community Center and the Public Library.
- a bright, accessible school library learning commons was updated in 2022 and has an abundance of resources for students and teachers
Our multicultural students find a safe, stimulating environment where an atmosphere of mutual respect for all cultures in Canada is cultivated. We strive to ensure that our school is a welcoming and safe place for students of all identities to feel valued and respected as they engage, learn, grow, explore, and discover.
A strong commitment to Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility is embedded throughout the OCDSB's 2023-2027 Strategic Plan and captured within each area of focus: learning, well-being, and social responsibility.
