RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND WELL BEING

Wits

WITS -

  • We continue to work on creating a school and community wide common language to open conversations about peer conflict. We endeavour to talk proactively about “Using  WITS” to solve peer conflicts and increase social responsibility.  WALK AWAY - IGNORE - TALK IT OUT - SEEK HELP
  • staff at Greely promote the use of WITS strategies at “teachable moments” when peer conflicts occur. (Did you use your WITS? What have you tried?)

Zones of Regulation -

  • The Zones of Regulation framework is used at Greely to teach students scaffolded skills toward developing a metacognitive pathway to build awareness of their feelings/internal state and utilize a variety of tools and strategies for regulation, prosocial skills, self-care, and overall wellness. This includes exploring tools and strategies for mindfulness, sensory integration, movement, thinking strategies, wellness, and healthy connection with others.
  • The Zones of Regulation is a framework that uses four colors–blue, green, yellow, and red–to help students identify their feelings and level of alertness.
